Kinesiology

Signs it’s time to see a kinesiologist

A Kinesiologist is an energy medicine specialist. Who places emphasis is on health maintenance, client education and responsibility by identifying the causative influences triggering health (mental, physical, chemical) imbalances.  Anything a Kinesiologist does, or suggests the client does, is to restore health, wellness and vitality, therefore enhancing the clients innate healing energies.

Whilst kinesiology is based on ancient techniques, which have been practised for thousands of years, it is a relatively new modality which was established in the early 1970’s.  Founded on Western philosophies such as Chiropractic, Counselling, Anatomy and Physiology it was coupled with Eastern philosophies such as Meridians, Acupressure, Triad of Health and Chakras.

A fundamental principle of Kinesiology is that the body, mind and spirit has innate ability to heal itself which, at times, needs support to re-align and connect to this innate healing ability.

Humans are three dimensional beings, so it makes sense to use a modality which works on all three aspects, which is what Kinesiology does.  Most modalities are usually only one dimension and in some cases two.  This makes Kinesiology regarded as one of the truly holistic modalities.

So what are the signs which may indicate it’s an ideal time for you to see a kinesiologist?

1.     You’ve experienced a significant loss or change

Any type of loss and/or change can trigger the grief process.  Also loss doesn’t just mean death, it can be a completion of any sort.  Changes or loss can be physically; mentally; spiritually and /or financially.  It may relate to the change or loss of a person; thing and/or place.  Whilst grieving is specific process for the individual kinesiology can support the person through this.

2.     Your over emotional

Many people live with negative emotions, accepting this as their “norm”, which results in them feeling less than great about themselves.  Such feelings may be anxiety, fear, anger, self-doubt, frustration, overwhelm, tiredness / lacking energy, feeling on-edge, sad or teary.  Many of clients have transformed these emotions and transformed their lives.

3.    You are feeling imbalanced

If you describe yourself as feeling “out of sorts”, not “like yourself”, out of harmony and/or imbalanced and don’t have a logical (or medical) reason for feeling this way.   You may also be experiencing stress due to life/work or imbalance.

4.  Your body is giving  you feedback

Our body holds immense wisdom and will give you signs that something isn’t being addressed and thus needs to come back into equilibrium.  Such symptoms may be teeth grinding, insomnia, shortness of breath (for no apparent reason), restlessness, headaches, nail biting, muscle tension or cramping, body aches, stomach upsets or related issues such as bloating, belching, diarrhoea or constipation.

5.    Your neurology is under stress

Signs you are or have experienced neurological stress are brain fogginess, memory issues, loss of balance, co-ordination issues, difficulty concentrating and/or learning, short attention span, disorientation, variances in your vision and/or hearing.

6.  Your internal well being is based on external factors

A sure giveaway that your internal well being is based externally is if you find yourself affected by what people are or aren’t doing and/or who is or isn’t in your life.  Other indicators could be that are you use terminology such as “s/he makes me feel …”, “they did …”, “<x> didn’t happen so I feel …”

7.  Your not living in the now

Are you living in the living in the pain / fear of what has not even happened.  If so it will be resulting in sabotaging behaviour. For example  Tora* wanted to be in a relationship, however she feared being rejected.  When Tora attracts Mr Right there is a 50% chance she may be rejected, however there is also a 50% chance that she may have a loving supportive relationship.    Yet before Tora could even meet Mr Right, she was already living in the pain of being rejected.  *name has been changed for privacy reasons

8.  What you are doing hasn’t or isn’t working

A number of my client have tried one dimensional modalities which, although have worked to some degree, haven’t really helped them shift.  However kinesiology is getting them their desired results.    Whatever it is you are doing, professionally or privately, and it isn’t working then kinesiology might be the right modality to help support your shift.

Overthinking

Overthinking doing your head in?

Most people will, at some stage, partake in overthinking.   Overthinking, or ruminating as psychology refers to it, is not in itself a bad thing.  In fact overthinking can have its positives.  However it is when overthinking becomes a daily practice then it has negative impacts.

Let’s liken overthinking to chocolate; chocolate isn’t that bad for you when eaten in small amounts occasionally.  It is is dark chocolate with no sugar then it can have health benefits. However when chocolate is eaten everyday and is loaded with sugar then it has negative impacts.

Same too with over thinking.  Overthinking can affect people in such ways as:

  • insomnia
  • exhaustion / low energy
  • poor memory
  • pessimistic and negative attitude
  • inaction / lost opportunities
  • guilt, anxiety and depression
  • stomach issues
  • tension and stress
  • lack of or low self confidence
  • addiction or addictive behaviour
  • impaired problem solving
  • distortion of information leading to inaccurate perceptions

Overthinking is something which typically happens as we get older.  Young children don’t overthink matters, in fact as parents we spend a lot of time trying to teach them to do so.  Young children hold the world in wonder and they are often in the moment, be-ing.

As our children enter school their beautiful, curious, child-like brain becomes jam packed with knowledge and information.   Sir Kenneth Robinson, an international adviser on education, says “we educate people out of their creativity”.

He suggests that not only do we educate our children with knowledge, they also learn the stigmatisation of failure, the linear goal of getting a job done and the fear of being wrong.  Thus their uninhibited creativity becomes restricted.

This fear of failure and/or being “wrong” in general contributes to the reason some people overthink.  Another contribution is the amount of information we have at hand which means we are bombarded with choices.

Whilst it is important to understand what options we have, particularly when making decisions, too much choice can be overwhelming.  Our decision-making process is hindered and we can become enervated and debilitated.

If you are an overthinker, please be easy on yourself.  Apparently the brain is wired in such a way that overthinking is a natural tendency.  Psychologist Susan Nolen-Hoeksema explains “the organization of our brains sets us up for over-thinking”.  This is because our memories and thoughts are not compartmentalised, rather they are interwoven in intricate networks of associations.

Nolen-Hoeksema says “When you are in a bad mood of some type—depressed, anxious, just altogether upset—your bad mood tends to trigger a cascade of thoughts associated with your mood. These thoughts may have nothing to do with the incident that put you into a bad mood in the first place”

Furthermore, when a person is feeling negative they are more likely to focus on negative matters as well as create negative connections, which may not actually exist.  Like any habit, the more a person does this and engages in overthinking, the more likely they will do so in the future.

Mark Nepo said “No amount of thinking is going to stop you from thinking” so in order to break the overthinking habit you need to consider actions which aren’t engaging your thought processes.   You also want to consider actions which will create the positive neural pathways which allow you to access your “sensible” brain; the neocortex.  Actions such as:

  1.  Breathing.  Fear + Oxygen = Excitement
  2.  Meditate regularly (and at least several times per week)
  3.  Instead of talking it over, try writing!  Writing gives us a different perspective
  4.  Practice mindfulness; be-ing in the present moment
  5.  Trust in yourself to handle whatever happens as well as trust in the Universe to only do what is best for you
  6.  Exercise; get moving!
  7.  Thoughts create reality; what are your thoughts creating?
  8.  Get creative; try colouring in, drawing, painting and/or pottery
  9.  Build your spontaneity muscle; it builds your capacity to cope with the unknown
  10.   Know that a choice is just a choice; if your choice doesn’t work out you simply just make another choice
  11.  Feel where in your body your overthinking is affecting you most.  Speak to that part of you and ask what it needs.  Then bring in “sun” vibration ; vitality, illumination, power, energising, happiness and increase will.  Let the sun energy soak into your mind and then into that area releasing what you’ve been thinking about
  12.  STOP IT!  Make a conscious choice not to engage in over thinking.

There isn’t a switch which we can access to stop overthinking, however it is a pattern or habit which with a little effort you can change.

If after reading this you feel you need additional support with overthinking then consider kinesiology as an option.  You can find more information on our website.

What are your emotions telling you?

What are your Emotions telling you?

What exactly are our emotions?  “An emotion is a complex psychological state that involves three distinct components: a subjective experience, a physiological response, and a behavioural or expressive response.”  (Hockenbury & Hockenbury, 2007)

It is interesting that emotions are a “subjective experience”.  Which means that despite (at times) people experiencing the same situations, events, relationships, places, etc the interpretation of such WILL differ.

Yet subjectivity is only one component of what emotions are.  Hockenbury & Hockenbury also determine that an emotions also have a physiological response.  In her book, Molecules of Emotion,  neuroscientist Candace Pert explains “As our feelings change, this mixture of peptides travels throughout your body and your brain. And they’re literally changing the chemistry of every cell in your body.”

Our cells are fundamental building blocks of our physical being.  It is at this level where our health and well-being is determined.    If our cells are flooded with negativity,  negative chemistry will result disabling the cells from performing optimally.

The third component is HOW we respond to our emotions.   The word emotion originates from the French word “emouvoir” which means to excite.  As well as the Latin word “emovere” which means to move.  Our emotions serve to motivate us to take action (move) towards things that excite us.  Emotions also serve for us to take action in order to survive and thus keep ourselves safe from danger.

Emotions Position description

Our emotions serve a purpose and have a job to do.  The problem happens when our emotions become over zealous about their role.  When they (as such) go beyond their position description and become over zealous. Such over zealousness creates imbalance and our emotions require “performance management”.

When we understand the message our emotions are giving us then we are given the key as to how to manage them!

So what are our emotions telling us?

Anger
Anger is often a catalyst for change.  It gives way for the opportunity to transform and to take responsibility.  Ask yourself:   what needs to change in your life?  what do you need to take responsibility for?  what part did you play in the situation? how can you create more peace in your life?  Action:  Practice forgiveness

Depression
Depression provides an opportunity for a person to get to know themselves at a deeper and genuine level.   If we don’t allow depression to take over, it is an emotion which can motivate people to deep and lasting healing.   Ask yourself:  what are the benefits of feeling down?  how does this feeling serve me?  what does it give me excuses not to do?  what is it that I’ve been suppressing that I need to address?

Fear
Fear and excitement use the same energy! Although people tend to misread excitement as fear, thus sabotaging ourselves from taking action and enabling change.  Ask yourself:  what is the worse thing that could happen with this change?  and what can I do to counteract that?  What are the benefits of change?  What are the drawbacks of not changing?  Action:  Do something small which you are fearful of each day.  You build up your resistance to fear and create a habit of taking action despite fear.

Grief
Grieving occurs when the person has or perceives loss.  Whether that loss is a person, relationship, home and/or job.  Whatever the loss is grief is an important part of healing.  However if we prolong our grief it keeps a person stuck in the past and inhibits them from moving forward.  Ask yourself:  how has my loss given way for new opportunities?  If the loss is a person consider how moving forward honours them.

Guilt
Guilt is a very destructive emotion which keeps the person imprisoned and confined rather than feeling free.  It is an indicator that the person needs to lighten their energy and release the burdens they are carrying.   Ask yourself: what is the lesson in the situation for me?  what is the lesson for other/s?   Action:  Go to a park and swing – feel the freedom it gives!

Jealousy
Jealousy is most often due to feelings of inferiority as well as lack mentality.   It can also close a person’s heart creating resentment and limitation.  Action:  Focus on being grateful, finding the blessings in EVERYTHING.  Also use meditations (or essences) which help open your heart.

Judgement
Judgement can be an indicator of controlling behaviours or the need to be in control.  It is an emotion which inhibits the person from being empowered as they are putting others down to feel better about them self.  Often when this behaviour is imbalanced it is due to being conflicted within.  Ask yourself:   What can I do to honour myself?  and others?  Focus on meditations which focus on trusting the flow of life.

Overwhelm
Overwhelm diminishes our peace and creates chaos.   It often occurs when we are looking at the big picture and many things at once.   Action:  Focus on firstly prioritising the activities, then breaking them down into manageable chunks.  Use breathing or meditation techniques to create centredness and peace.

Rejection
Rejection or more aptly put the fear of rejection stops many from pursuing their goals and fully connecting with the joy of life.  When feeling rejection there is a need to release from patterns of self-criticism and self-pity to work on increasing self worth.  Consider this:  That rejection is not of you or your work.  Rather it’s due to someone not taking the time to understand what you have to offer and as a result they have lost out.

Resentment
Resentment happens when we feel we have been unfairly treated or feel taken advantage of.  As resentment continues to resonate it turns into righteousness and we fail to see points of view other than our own.  Action step:  Consider what the other person’s point of view is in the situation.  Perhaps set up two chairs in one chair you speak as yourself and in the other you speak as the other person.

Sadness
Refer to Grief

Stress
Stress occurs when people are not living in the present moment.  As it continues they neglect their personal needs, particularly the tension that builds up.  Instead of allowing things to flow they strain to get things done, piling on more tasks as they go.  Action steps:  Use Resonate Essences “Present Time” spray or use our “Calling your Spirit back” meditation.  What specific aspect relating to yourself have you been neglecting? e.g exercise, food, water

Unworthiness
When a person feels unworthy it is because they fail to see the value that they contribute to the world.  They are often very critical of themselves and judge themselves more harshly than others.  They give and/or allow others to take their personal power.   Action:  Define your boundaries; what is and isn’t acceptable to you.  Ask others to list three positive things about you.  At the end of the day for three weeks write down all your achievements, things you did well or that you wouldn’t usually do.

Worry
Refer to fear

Law of Attraction - Vibration

Eight ways you can raise your vibration

Regularly when working with clients, I find myself explaining that in order to achieve what they desire they need to “shift and raise their vibration”.  Whilst many understand the concept they don’t necessarily understand what steps they can take to achieve this.

In my personal experience what you have or attract in life is directly related to your energy.  As well as your level of empowerment and how you feel about yourself.  If you want to attract or manifest certain things, people or situations it is important that you are resonating at the right vibration.

What is our “vibration”?

Dr. Richard Gerber, who wrote Vibration Medicine, supports the notion that we are more than our physical body and that we also have energetic information systems; such as the subtle bodies that Eastern philosophies often refer to.  He also states “energy is very strongly influenced by consciousness”.

Thus our vibration is the frequency and energy at which our physical, mental, emotional and energetic bodies are oscillating at.  Each aspect having its own separate frequency which contributes to the whole and it is this integration vibration that communicate with others around us.

When you contemplate ways to raise your vibration it is important to consider them from these aspects; physical, mental, emotional and energetically!

Methods to raise your vibration

  1. External world / internal world

Your external world is a reflection of what is happening within yourself, thus it acts as a prompt to what you are placing your attention and focus on. If you don’t like what is happening around you, consider what you need to address within or give to yourself.  For example if you are attracting negative situations, consider how you are being negative. Once you can acknowledge this, you can change it and you no longer need to attract such situations for you to learn from.

  2. Consider your thoughts and words

As Buddha said “what you think you become”, thus the thoughts you have create how you feel. It is important to acknowledge how you are feeling, however also consider what  you have or are thinking about as this is most likely the reason you are feeling less than great.
Remember just because you think something, doesn’t mean it is true, so consider other and alternative possibilities. Life is made up of dualities so things, people, situations are not all good nor are they all bad they are a balance of both, when we see both aspects we have peace and empowerment ~ higher vibrational energy.
Also consider the words that you are using and find alternatives.  For example “should” is a guilt creating word, so instead of using “should” use “could” – it is a choice creating word.  Rather than things being bad, state they are less than good.  Words, as does thoughts, have their own vibrational energy so if you want to lift your vibration then using those of a positive resonance helps.

  3. Feed your mind

What material (books, magazines, online) are you reading?  Also what TV shows or movies are you watching?  Did you realise that the material you feed your mind with is also unconscious programming you?  Make a choice to nourish your mind with information that is strengthening and encouraging, that whilst feeding your mind is also nurtures your soul.

  4. Practice Gratitude

To practice gratitude is to find something to be thankful for in every situation, even those situations which seem less than positive.  When you develop an attitude of gratefulness then you become more present which can help you realise that everything that happens is moving you towards something bigger and better.  Yet too gratitude is an emotion of higher forces and thus lifts your vibration so you attract more of the same (so more situations to be grateful for).

  5. Meditation

When you meditate you enable your mind and body to realign with its truer state; a state of calmness, peace, happiness and joy.  You are also able to connect with your higher self, that part of you which holds wisdom and insight as well as guidance.  Thus meditation is a tool in which you can access and connect with the  higher vibrational energy within and around you.

  6. Use Essences

There are many different essences in the marketplace however the one which we recommend and use is Resonate Essences.  These essences are made with high vibrational ingredients yet too they have been created with the purest of energetic vibrations including love.  Working on a spiral flow dynamic these essences dissolve and transmute the negative vibrations create a space for the positive vibrations to permeate and infuse.

  7. Get moving

Movement creates energy, so when we move in a way which makes us happy or gives us joy we create positive energy faster.  So engage in an activity that gets you moving and that resonates with you; go walking, go to the gym, dance, jump on the trampoline; it doesn’t matter how you move, just move!
When you move you breathe more and thus increase the oxygen in your body – oxygen is life giving, life forming energy, so when you breathe you are giving  this to yourself.

  8. Higher vibration foods / fluids

Eat foods that are “live”, which are unprocessed foods that are beneficial to you.  As the adage states “you are what you eat” thus food directly impacts your physical body.  Either you are fuelling it or defusing it.
This also applies to the fluids you drink and in order to thrive your body needs at least two litres per day (more depending on circumstances).  So are you are you drinking enough water?  is your body adequately absorbing it?  are you drinking too much caffeine, alcohol or sugar based drinks?
When your physical body thrives so too does your vibrational bodies.

In his book “The Power of Intention” Dr. Wayne Dyer wrote:  “What you may fail to see inside is a result of how you choose to process everything and everyone in your world. You project onto the world what you see inside, and you fail to project into the world what you fail to see inside. If you knew that you were an expression of the universal spirit of intention, that’s what you’d see. You’d raise your energy level beyond any possibility of encumbrances to your connection to the power of intention. It is only discord acting within your own feelings that will ever deprive you of every good thing that life holds for you! If you understand this simple observation, you’ll curb interferences to intention.”

Hydrated Light Bodies

Are your Light Bodies dehydrated?

Energy workers are also known as light workers, aptly described due to the energies and frequencies they work with including those of the aura.  The aura is a composition of seven layers known as light bodies.

Through Barbara Ann Brennan’s work, and as described in her book “Hands of Light”, the auric bodies are described as light waves, which like the physical body are composed of fluid like substances.

What is lesser known is that just as the physical body may become dehydrated so too can the light bodies.

Light bodies and the physical body

Each light body encompasses and penetrates the one/s resonating below it, right to and including the physical body.  It is thought that the structure of each light body contains the anatomy of the physical body.  Anatomy such as blood vessels, organs, etc albeit in energetic form.

If the light bodies resemble and imitate the physical body then it would make sense that they too require nutrients, energy and balance for optimum performance and efficiency.  Yet too there are other parallels which give support as to why our light bodies can become de-hydrated.

When a person is physically at higher altitudes their body requires specific care as it is more susceptible to being dehydrated as well as loosing nutrients.  This is because water evaporates at a quicker rate the higher we go yet too due to breathing faster and more deeply.  Higher altitude could be an analogy for working with higher energetic frequencies; in that when we do our body and light bodies can easily become dehydrated.

Consider the metaphysics of water; it symbolises adaptability, purity, fertility, healing and cleansing. Water is associated with emotions, intuitiveness as well as the feminine aspects of ourselves.  When dehydrated it is symbolic of the lack of nurturing oneself and/or that the person is thirsting for something.

Most (if not all) light workers are empath’s;  they are considered sensitive and/or emotional, they often pick up on others emotions, ailments and energy.   They work with higher frequency healing vibrations and give readily to others often before themselves.   They are the epitome of what water symbolises and thus are often dehydrated not only physically yet more importantly on one or more of the light bodies.

Symptoms of a dehydrated system

Whilst light workers are aware of the need to look after their physical body, more often than not they aren’t aware that their light bodies require care also.   To know if your light body is dehydrated you will experience several of the following:

  • do not have enough endurance and/or fatigue easily
  • may find it more difficult to sense energy
  • energetic information is not as clear
  • find energy work is tiring
  • have fluctuations in energy
  • crave sweets and/or carbohydrates
  • are susceptible to colds and flu’s
  • are moody
  • have moment of feeling dizzy

Fluids are the best way to hydrate our physical body.  So too with the light bodies, albeit with a different type of fluid product, that of energy.  This also gives reason as to why it is important that energy workers regularly receive some type of energetic work!

Methods to keep or re-hydrate

In Kinergetics there is a specific Light Bodies correction which I personally found to be one of the most effective ways for re-hydrating the light bodies.  However there are other methods that light workers can use such as:

  • Meditating regularly, ideally making it a daily practice
  • Starting your day with a spiritual practice
  • Receiving energetic balances regularly
  • Using Resonate Essences and sprays
  • Routinely protecting and cleansing your energy
  • Visiting the beach, mountains or bush often
  • Listen to music, sing and/or dance

When dehydrated, just as the physical body will endeavour to maintain health by decreasing some of the body’s processes (making them less effective).  Our light bodies do the same although it is the access of energy and flow of the higher vibrational energy which is not as effective.

With regular, devoted actions to nurturing all aspects of ourselves we can ensure we are working optimally, not just for ourselves yet also for others.

Kinesiologist

Kinesiology ~ it could be for you!

Many years ago I started my business doing Life Coaching….and I loved it!  Many of my clients made massive change in their life yet others, whilst they made some changes, would sabotage this change and keep repeating the patterns.

It was only until I studied Kinesiology that I came to understand that life coaching is only one dimensional.  As in it only works with the mind however human being are three dimensional, mind, body and spirit.  So whilst working the mind will help, if the body and spirit aren’t in alignment then change is only temporary.

What I love about kinesiology is that it is three dimensional and thus truly holistic.  Within a session all three dimensions of a being are being balanced.

The main focus / area I use kinesiology is with clients who don’t have a healthy “self” relationship.  i.e. they lack self confidence, self esteem, self belief, self respect.  Our self relationship is the most important relationship we can have as our external world is a reflection of our internal one.  So if you are attracting toxic relationships it is likely your self relationship is unhealthy.

Many of my clients respond yes to one or more of the following questions:

  • Do you interact (treat and/or speak) with yourself negatively?
  • Do you seek external validation?
  • Lack healthy boundaries?
  • Question and/or doubt your self?
  • Have negative beliefs, lack self worth and confidence?
  • Perhaps feeling fearful and anxious?
  • Attracting and/or not letting go of toxic relationships, friendships, environments?
  • Stuck in the past and not moving forward?
  • Maybe loosing your self within relationships.
  • Lacking or loosing your energy, vitality and spark for life?

Demystifying kinesiology

Kinesiology is an energy based healing modality with strong roots in both Eastern philosophies, such as Chinese meridian system, as well as the Western study of Anatomy and Physiology.  The word Kinesiology derives from the Greek word “kinesis” meaning movement and “kinein” meaning to move.  Therefore kinesiology could be seen as the science or branch of knowledge related to movement.

Using muscle testing, kinesiologists are able to obtain information from your body;muscle testing information which indicates where a stress or block could be in your body as well as the possibly origin of such stress.

Kinesiologists also believe that your body has its own innate healing ability and thus any work they do is working to balance and empower your body to connect with this ability.

A kinesiologist has a tool bag of varying techniques referred to as corrections, which are used to bring your body back into alignment and balance, thus addressing the energy blockages identified.

What happens at a session?

Based on the goal you have set with the kinesiologist for the session, varying correction techniques will be used.  These are mix of tried and proven energy based techniques and may include:

  • Gently holding or massage acupressure points
  • Tracing one or several meridian pathway/s
  • Use of Resonate or other Essences
  • Hydration techniques
  • Clearing of sabotage patterns
  • Chakra balancing
  • Energy and colour work
  • Visualisation and meditative work
  • Challenging perceptions and beliefs

What occurs during a consultation?

At your first session, your Kinesiologist will review your history to determine where you are in life and what you are experiencing, then help you determine where it is you want to be and what  you want to achieve, which becomes the goal for your session.

The kinesiologist will, using muscle testing, ensure your body is clear to communicate, as well as strong enough to access your innate healing ability, correcting where needed.

They will then determine, via your body, imbalances or stresses that stop you from achieving your defined goal, applying the correction technique required to remove such blocks and create more options for you to achieve your goal.

Depending on what you are working on, it can take a number of session before benefits are observed, however some clients may achieve immediate results.

What can Kinesiology be used for?

Kinesiology does not treat, diagnose or prescribe, what we do is balance your energy system to be in alignment with what you want to achieve.  Kinesiology has achieved results with people wanting to:

  • Be confident, self belief and self worth
  • Trust in their decisions and take action
  • Value them self and have healthy boundaries
  • Let go of toxic relationships and environments
  • Alleviate anxiety and stress ~ physical, emotional or mental
  • Increase their energy, vitality and feeling happy
  • Overcoming fears and past traumas
  • Provide support regarding major change/s
  • Releasing blocked potential and enhancing performance ~ school, work, sport
  • Increase brain function, learning and comprehension
  • Refining and boosting creative flow
  • Helping sleep routines & being well rested
  • Aiding with recovery from Injury
  • Easing pain issues (incl headaches & migraines)
  • Achieve weight goals

Ultimately the best way to determine whether kinesiology is right for you is to actually try it!   We have an introductory 1.5hr session for only $100.  To schedule an appointment contact us on 0407 696 454 or visit http://www.theinnersageaustralia.com/appointment-randwick/

Spiritual Flu

Are you suffering from a Spiritual Flu?

The spiritual flu, also known as flukey flu or vibrational flu, is a result of what can happen when we go through an energy shift and the increase in Chi (energy) results in a clearing of toxins which have been held in our cells and energy channels.

Similar to when it rains heavily and the current of a river increases, the resulting rush of water clears debris in its path, so too when an addition of energy occurs in our body; the rush of energy will clear any blocks being held in the cells and meridians.

Such clearing results in detoxification, which our bodies are naturally designed for. On a daily basis several of our internal systems work to neutralise and eliminate toxins, which is matter that doesn’t serve our body.   For example, our lungs expel carbon dioxide, our digestive system releases waste product, our kidneys secrete and filter toxins out of the blood and the liver transforms the chemical nature of many toxins.

Toxins enter our cells and meridians two ways;

  • External environment
Such as the air we breathe, the products we put on our skin, the food or drink we consume, the chemical products we use, what we read or watch and via toxic actions (smoking, working too much, not getting outside).
  • Internal environment
For instance negative beliefs, thoughts and words we say to or about ourself, stress and negative emotions.  As well as toxic behaviours such as being judgemental, getting caught up in drama and speaking ill of others.

Whilst our body is designed to naturally detoxify, and will do so, at times the output cannot keep up with the input, so the detox processes become overburden which results in our body holding onto such matter.

An energy shift will occur any time our vibration is raised.  Either via conscious work we undertake, for example if we have a kinesiology balance, forensic healing, massage or reiki; or they occur unconsciously due to an emotional upheaval, changes in collective consciousness, major planetary alignments / retrogrades or unseen forces (such as angels, spirit guides).

In order for our vibration to shift, either consciously or unconsciously, a flood of energy enters are system and causes toxic matter to move and release.  The greater the backlog of toxins the more intense the release and it is this which can cause spiritual flu.

Whilst spiritual flu has very similar symptoms to a normal flu, it differs in that the symptoms are superficial, so generally despite their physical manifestations a person feels well.  Although in my experience the spiritual flu usually leaves a person feeling quite tired, noting that sleep aids to boost our immune system and deep sleep is also thought to be when a person processes their emotions and memories.

During a spiritual flu, it is important to support your physical and energy bodies, otherwise the symptoms can worsen and become more substantial.  Things you can do are:

  • Drink lots of water, particularly with lemon
  • Take supplements, specifically vitamin C and B
  • Use natural products, such as essential oils
  • Sit in the sunshine
  • Journal
  • Meditation
  • Stimulate the lymphatic system (massage, walking, skipping)
  • Rest and where possible, sleep!

It is important to give yourself time out to process and appreciate the hidden gift in your spiritual flu, which is a transition to a more aligned you!

In most instances symptoms will last for three to five days, however sometimes due to a number of blocks there can be a damming effect.  If symptoms aren’t shifting after three days I suggest undertaking additional energy work and/or stimulating your lymphatic system.  If symptoms worsen or if you are concerned please see your medical practitioner.

Meditation

Meditation in the moment

Scientifically and spiritually, the benefits of meditation are well reported.  Meditation is documented as helping increase focus, learning and memory, balancing our emotions as well as having many physical benefits such as increasing our immunity, energy levels and reducing blood pressure.

Yet despite these known benefits most people still aren’t meditating and the two most common excuses people give me for not doing so are:

  1. I don’t have the time; and/or
  2. I don’t know how to

Meditation is the simplest of practices however it is often over complicated by thought processes (which is an oxymoron as that it exactly what it can help with).    It is not an activity of only sages, devotees and mystics who can sit crossed legged for hours at a time chanting “om”, although you can do so if that suits you.   Meditation in a practice which everyone is able to do, in some shape or form, and is something most of us have all done perhaps without realising.

What is Meditation?
Meditation is the act of contemplation, reflection and/or prayer where a person focusses their mind with the intention of slowing down and knowing that thoughts will rise, however choosing not to engage with these thoughts.  It is the process of being; in that exact moment in time, free of busyness and distractions, not in the past and not in future, just present moment.

Meditation is the essence of mindfulness, which is described as a state of being actively in the present, observing thoughts and feelings from a distance without judgement of them.  Its living and being awaken to what you are doing at that precise point of time.

What this means is that meditation can therefore be achieved at any time a person brings mindfulness to whatever they are doing.  By placing their full attention on what they are doing, which brings them to living in the that exact moment.  To allow thoughts to flow without judgement and to observe them without hooking onto a thought or following it down the rabbit hole.

Have you ever brushed your own, or someone else’s hair, and just been in that moment with each stroke, focused on smoothing out the hair?  or perhaps sat outside on a beautiful day and  found yourself immersed in the beauty surrounding you and sensing the sun’s rays warming you or the wind gently cooling you?  have you walked along a beach picking up shells or cooling your feet in the water, finding yourself immersed with the smell of the ocean and sound of the waves?  Possibly you’ve found yourself lost in the book you’ve been reading, taken to another time and place…..

In any of these, or similar scenarios, had you noticed that your mind was nowhere else other than where you were at that time?  Because that is meditation.  Whilst personally I am fond of sitting still with the intent of meditation, freeing my mind of thought, any time we have been lost in the moment, or totally focused on what we were doing, we were practicing mindfulness and therefore meditation.

Suggestions to aid with being present

  • Accept that as your mind begins to slow down and be in the moment thoughts will rise and that you have a choice whether you engage with them
  • Write for five minutes before meditation, our mind becomes free to be present because it now knows what it needs to remember has already been recorded
  • Focus on your breathe…it is a natural process that is happening every moment your awake or asleep, bring your attention to the air you take into your lungs and hold, allow that oxygen to disperse into your body and then breathe out…letting go of the stuff you no longer need
  • Concentrate fully on whatever it is that you are doing.  For example if you are washing the dishes focusing on each plate, bowel or cup and being reverent in cleaning each item.
  • Guided visualisations are a great tool to aid with meditating and it is still meditating if you use them

Ideal activities for meditation when you have no time

Consider the activities you are doing already, where you can slow down to be 100% focused on that task at hand and therefore present such as:

  • Washing the dishes
  • Talking the dog for a walk
  • Going to the park with the kids
  • Sitting on the toilet
  • Preparing, cooking and/or eating meals
  • Walking along the beach
  • Prior to sleep

As previously mentioned most people find it challenging to find time for sitting down to meditate.  The longer your can meditate the more effective the benefits, however some time spent is better than none at all.

Healers

Nourishment essentials for healing professionals

Healers come in all shapes and forms, they can be nurses, doctors, counsellors, psychologists, naturopaths, kinesiologists, energy healers or they can be the friend who listens.    Having known many healers, as well as being one myself, it is my experience that most healers are so busy  focussing and caring for others that they tend to “forget” to care for themselves.

There are many ways for healing professionals to care for themselves such as eating small meals frequently, exercising regularly, connecting with nature and/or mediation.  However, due to the work they do and the transfer of energy that occurs healers often deplete essential nutrients.

Whether healing professionals are conscious of this or not, any interaction with another involves energy transmission.  Healers transfer energy, which could be chemical energy, electrical energy, thermal energy, light  or mechanical energy.

Yet too, depending on the strength of their boundaries, protection and cleansing, practitioners can also find themselves with taking on energetic residue from their clients.

Our nervous system is a collection of fibres and specialised cells which transmit signals between the brain and other parts of the body.  In addition to it’s physiological functions, the nervous system is also the pathway used to distribute and receive subtle energy.  Hence the importance of specifically supporting this system.

The following are suggestions as to what we consider to be nourishment essentials for those in the healing field, however as a Kinesiologist we do not diagnose, treat or prescribe so if in doubt please refer to your health professional.

Spirulina
Spirulina is a cyanobacteria, which refers to the colour of the micro-organism, cyano being blue.  It is a rich source of numerous vitamins such as B-1, B-2, B-3, B-6, B-9 (folic acid) as well as vitamins C, D, A and E.

Spirulina is also a source of various minerals  including  potassium , calcium, chromium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus,  selenium, sodium and zinc.  In addition to these beneficial nutrients it also contains essential and non essential amino acids, chlorophyll and carotenoids.

Due to Spirulina’s nutritional make up, it assists us our body to convert food into fuel, supports our nervous system as well as aids the detoxification process by binding with heavy metals and free radicals for removal.

Magnesium

Magnesium (as well as other minerals) play an important role in the body by regulating glands, muscle and nerve function, protein synthesis, blood glucose and blood pressure regulation.   In addition magnesium is critical for energy production, building hormones and maintaining cells.

Magnesium is important in metabolising nutrients into usable energy, allowing ions to move in and out of our cells.   Due to the role magnesium plays in conduction of nerve impulses, it aids the nervous system with sending messages.

Stress is known to deplete our magnesium stores.

Vitamin C
Vitamin C is critical for our immune system in its resistance to  pathogens, aids our healing processes and as an anti-oxidant it also helps limit the damage from free radicals..  Vitamin C also aids in the formation, as well as use of collagen in the body (which is the “glue” that holds our body together and gives strength and elasticity to our skin, muscles, joints and ligaments).

Cortisol, a hormone released during stress, competes with collagen for vitamin C, hence why when under any form of stress it is important to ensure you are digesting vitamin C.  Noting as it is water soluble our bodies cannot store vitamin C, hence another reason it is important to ensure we ingest vitamin C daily.

C
alcium
One of the better known benefits of calcium is that it gives our bones and teeth strength as well as shape.  However the nervous system also needs calcium in order to effectively transmit messages.

It aids in maintaining appropriate blood pressure and adequate calcium also helps balance our mood and pH levels.  pH balance is important as too much acidity can provide an environment for harmful organisms to flourish.

Water

Approximately 60% of our body composition is water and nearly all of the body’s systems depend on water to operate, so it makes sense that in order for the body to function effectively it is essential for it to be adequately hydrated.

Our body uses approximately 2.5 litres of water per day, however it is important to note that when we are under “stress” (whether nutritionally, physically or mentally) we use more water.   This includes the additional demand we put on our system when giving healing energy or mental focus to others.

Author of  ‘Your Body’s Many Cries for Water’, Dr. Batmanghelidj, indicates that the optimal daily water intake is 1.5 litres per 50kg of body weight.  Electrolytes assist in hydration and a natural way to boost your water with electrolytes is to add lemon, lime or sea salt to your water.

Oxygen
Oxygen is the most essential nutrients we need, we can’t exist without it, our basic building blocks (cells) need oxygen for energy and growth.  Breathing, particularly deep breathing, increases the oxygen in our blood as well as aid in releasing toxins.

Breathing nourishes our nervous system and thus reduces tension and stress, increases energy and stamina, strengthens our posture and improves energy flow to the brain aiding attentiveness, focus and clarity.

When the healer adequately cares for themselves, they can minimise (if not eliminate) burnout.  Thus ensuring they have an abundance of vitality and stamina not only for others, yet most importantly for their own body and soul.

Calling your spirit back

Calling your Spirit back

The concept of calling your Spirit back is explained divinely with a story that Caroline Myss shares in her book, “Anatomy of the Spirit” about David Chetlahe Paladin, a Navajo Indian who grew up on a reservation in the 1920’s and ’30’s.

The loss of David’s spirit began at age eleven which saw him become an alcoholic, then in his mid-teens he would leave the reservation to drift and wander until he got a job on a merchant marine ship.  It was on this ship that David befriended a young German man as well as another Native American.

The young men worked and travelled together throughout the Pacific Ocean and to keep himself entertained David took up drawing, often sketching bunkers that the Japanese were building on various Pacific Islands in 1941.

David’s drawings, including those of the Japanese bunkers, found their way into the hands of the American military and he was drafted into military service.  David assumed he skills as an artist would be utilised however instead he was assigned to be a part of a secret operation which would see him, as well as other Native Americans, become spy’s.

As radio transmissions had the possibility of being intercepted, the American Army devised a plan to use Native Americans, for their native language, as a means to guarantee that transmissions could not be interpreted.

It was while David was behind enemy lines, that he would be caught by the Nazi’s.  They tortured him in many ways, including nailing his feet to the floor and then forcing him to stand for days on end.

David survived the torture and was sent for execution by genocide because he was considered a “lesser race”.  While being shoved into a train carriage for his journey, he felt a rifle being pushed into his ribs, he turned to face the solder who turned out to be his German friend from the merchant ship.

David’s friend orchestrated for him to change trains and be sent to a prisoner of war camp instead, where David would see out the remainder of the war.  When the camps would be liberated, David was found by American soldiers unconscious and dying.   He was transported to a military hospital in the United States where he would remain in a coma for two and half years.

When David finally came out of the coma, his body was so weak he could not walk without assistance.   David decided that he would enter a veteran’s hospital and see out the rest of his life, yet before he did that he would return to his reservation to say goodbye to his people.

When David returned to the reservation, he friends and family were in shock at the state of him.  So horrified they convened to discus how they could help him.  The reservation elders approached David, took off his leg braces, tied a rope to his waist and through him into a deep river.  They commanded “David, call your spirit back, Your spirit is no longer in your body. If you can’t call your spirit back, we will let you go. No one can live without his spirit. Your spirit is your power.”

David would tell Caroline that calling his spirit back was the most difficult tasks he ever had to undertake.  “It was more difficult than enduring having my feet nailed to the floor. I saw the faces of those Nazi soldiers. I lived through all those months in the prison camp. I knew that I had to release my anger and hatred. I could barely keep myself from drowning, but I prayed to let the anger out of my body. That’s all I prayed, and my prayers were answered.”

David would fully recovered including the full use of his legs.  He would become a shaman healer, Christian minister and very talented artist before passing away in 1986.

David’s story reminds us of how experiences can drain our life force and capture our spirit.  Yet more importantly that we can transcend any situation to call back the energy which has been taken from us.

Experiences that capture our spirit don’t have to be as traumatic as David’s, they can be divorce or separation from someone we loved, jealousy of others, negativity, grieving the loss of a person, place or thing, major transitions or rejection of a part of ourselves.

We can also give our spirit away when we make someone or something more important than ourselves, it is any situation which leaves you less than who you are meant to be.

Ways to Call back your spirit

With whatever method you choose, it is important to make this a ritualistic exercise, therefore set aside an appropriate amount of time where you won’t be interrupted or rushed.  Create a sacred space in whatever way it makes it inviting, safe and special for you.  Some ideas are to light candles, sage the room or burn incense, use essential oils, music or drumming and perhaps crystals.

Meditation with visualisation
Get yourself into a comfortable position which you can easily hold for an amount of time.  Bring  your focus to your breathe, breathing in for a count of 4, holding for a count of 7 and exhaling for a count of 8.  Allowing any thoughts to just be, giving them permission to present and then just be, not adding to them or exploring them.

Feeling yourself relax, letting go and being in the moment.  Now set your intention for the meditation, for all parts of your spirit which have been left with other people, in other places, in other times, at events to return for you to be 100% restored and revitalised right now.

Envisage a pulsating ball of cleansing energy surrounding you, once which surrounds your physical body covering your head and connecting below your feet, one which also extends from your physical body to extend to encompass all your energy fields..

As you feel, see or hear your intention being acted upon now visualise (or feel) the energy which you have left with others being returned to you and as it does being cleansed passing through the cleansing ball of energy you have set around you, ensuring that only your energy returns to you and any residue from others is removed.

As you see or feel the stream of your light energy return to you feel your energy levels increasing, feel your inner strength return and a sense of being 100% home within  yourself.

Take a moment to soak in this energy, to let your returned energy reverberate and immerse so you are fully bonded.  When you are ready slowly come back to the room, raising your awareness to the noises that surround you, wriggling your fingers and toes, feeling the floor around you.

Prayer
Ask God, the Universe, Budda or whomever you believe in or pray (speak) to and ask for their assistance in returning your energy, which has been left in other places, time, events or with people to return to you.

Be 100% confident that your prayers will be heard and that the action will be taken to assist in what is yours, being returned to you.

Command
Commanding your energy to report is similar to yet stronger than a prayer, as you are not relying on external support yet rather authoritatively directing your energy to return.

State out loud “I call back my spirit.  I command all fragments of my spirit left in other places, times and dimension or with other people and events to return to me right now.  As those parts of my spirit integrate in my being, they are cleansed and revitalised, invigorating and renewing my spirit as a whole”

In the times that I have found the need to call back my own spirit, I have felt a shift in my energy and a return of inner strength.  It has enabled me to let go of matters that were playing in my head and that were lowering my vibration.

Calling back your spirit is a beautiful, simple yet compelling way to transcend your pain and to connect with the grace of true empowerment.
